What Keeper does

Draft & redraft leagues

Run a fresh draft every season, or keep the same league going for years with all its history in one place. Redraft leagues are free on the Starter plan.

Keeper & dynasty leagues

Keep a few players, or your whole list, from one season to the next. Commissioners set the keeper rules and check nominations, and Pro leagues can trade draft picks for future seasons.

Live draft room

Start the draft when you like and pause it as often as you need. Commissioners can move picks, add priority picks, skip and rewind, and coaches can trade picks before, during and after the draft.

Trades, waivers & FAAB

Coaches trade players and picks, claim players off waivers, or bid for them with a FAAB budget on Pro. Commissioners choose the daily processing hour, and Ultimate leagues can set transaction limits, FAAB budgets and waiver priorities.

Scoring: Points, Category & Position-Based

Choose Points or Category scoring, with separate lockouts for moves, lineups and captains. Pro leagues can write their own scoring formula, and Position-Based scoring gives each lineup position a formula of its own.

Finals & Fantasy Awards

Every league gets a finals series and a record of its premiers and wooden spoons. Pro lets you build your own finals series and adds Fantasy Awards such as the Brownlow, the Norm Smith and the All-Australian team, along with league records.

iOS & Android apps

Draft from the pub, set your team on the train and accept trades from the couch with the Keeper apps for iPhone and Android. Push notifications bring injury, trade and big game alerts to you.

What makes Keeper different

Customise your league, even on the free plan

Coaches mention customisation in their reviews more than anything else. The free Starter plan covers most league rules, and Pro and Ultimate open up the rest, from your own scoring formula to custom lineup positions, finals and fixtures. Commissioners can change it all from the app. The draft modes in AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach give commissioners far fewer settings.

Built for draft, keeper and dynasty, not salary cap

AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach are salary-cap games first, with draft as a side mode. Keeper is built only for draft leagues. You can trade future picks, keep players or whole lists from year to year, and hold your draft as early as December.

Updated every week

New features and fixes ship all year round, and Keeper shipped more than 200 updates in its first year. One coach who moved across said their old platform "does not listen to their fan base". Another wrote: "They aren't comfortable just 'existing'. New features and improvements consistently added throughout the year."

The team behind Keeper

Keeper was founded by Ryan Power, a long-time draft league coach and commissioner. He built Keeper because the platforms his own leagues used had stopped keeping up.

Ryan launched Keeper at the end of 2024 in preparation for the 2025 AFL season. He actively develops the product and answers all support messages with a small crew helping out.

Frequently asked questions

Is Keeper free?

Yes. The Starter plan is free and covers redraft, keeper and dynasty leagues, points and category scoring, the iOS and Android apps and your full league history. Pro and Ultimate add more settings for a season-long fee per team, which the commissioner pays once after the draft.

Is Keeper affiliated with the AFL?

No. Keeper is an independent product. It is not endorsed by or affiliated in any way with the AFL or the official AFL Fantasy game.

Can I import my league from Ultimate Footy?

Yes. Keeper has tools to import team lists, update draft picks and edit fixtures and results to match what you had on Ultimate Footy, SuperCoach, AFL Fantasy or a spreadsheet, even for past seasons. Most leagues move across in minutes, and you can do it while your coaches join.

What scoring types does Keeper support?

Keeper supports Points scoring and Category scoring. In 2026 we added Position-Based scoring, where each lineup position has its own formula. For example, players in a FWD slot might only score for goals.

Is there an app?

Yes. Keeper has apps for iPhone and Android. Both are rated 4.9 stars, on the App Store and on Google Play.

What's the difference between a keeper and a dynasty league?

In a keeper league, each coach keeps a set number of players from one season to the next and the rest go back into the draft. In a dynasty league, coaches keep their whole list year after year and add new players through a rookie draft. Keeper runs both, along with single-season redraft leagues.

When can I draft for next season?

From December. Each new Keeper season opens on 1 December, so your league can draft, trade picks and set keepers months before Round 1.
